This
is what I was looking for when I went to China...I wasn't looking for
skyscrapers, the highest towers in the world or weird and artificial
materials but this...the origin of chinese culture. It's fascinating to
enter in this environment of the 5th century, protected by UNESCO and
see the organization of this villages, the systems of water supply,
canals along the whole village for domestic and hygiene purposes along
with the facade of the houses, the typology of the houses, the facade of
the front street is a wall, which is followed by a yard where you can
enter the house that is made around another courtyard...The stone and
wood, used with a stunning mastery are the main materials. I found what I
was looking for and this simplicity and mastery were what impressed me
the most...
